ALL THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT

Published on May 7, 2014

When I first started out photographing nature, which was in 1956, Mohammad always went to the mountain, meaning that I always went after whatever shots and critters I was trying to photograph. But that is a young man's game.

These years the mountain has to come to Mohammad. I just park myself by a filling station, like these flowers, which are called appropriately "Spring Beauties," and wait. Sure enough, sooner or later someone stops by, like this little wild bee and I take their picture. Meanwhile, I just let my mind rest (not to mention my body) and meditate.

When I say "meditate," I don't mean to suggest I do anything at all but allow the mind to naturally rest just as it is. That 'is' meditation. Everything else is "practicing" meditation, which is a bit of an oxymoron.

Listen to the roar of nature living that we call silence.
